Web designer arrested from Delhi’s Dwarka for ‘ONGC’ scam

A 48-year-old individual, identified as Ravi Chandra, and working as a web designer, was apprehended in Dwarka on charges of orchestrating a nationwide recruitment scam under the guise of offering employment opportunities at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

Hailing from Hyderabad, Chandra came under the scrutiny of the police after a complaint was lodged in 2018 by a senior ONGC official. The complaint revealed that individuals were falling victim to a fraudulent scheme promising fictitious positions as assistant engineers within the corporation.

According to DCP (crime) Rohit Meena, victims had paid a substantial amount, amounting to Rs 22 lakh, to a person named Randhir Singh, also known as Kunal Kishore, with the expectation of securing a job at ONGC. Regrettably, Singh absconded with the funds. In the course of the investigation, seven suspects were apprehended, but Chandra, recognized as one of the masterminds, had managed to evade arrest. Subsequently, he was traced to Hyderabad and summoned for questioning. Upon further inquiry, Chandra was detained in Dwarka as a key figure in the recruitment scam.
